Santiorxo cork oak Nature · A Pobra do Brollón, Terra de Lemos, Lugo Image of A Pobra do Brollón, not of the place itself. The Santiorxo cork oak stands in the hamlet of Santiorxo, in the parish of Liñares (A Pobra do Brollón), in the comarca of Terra de Lemos, already within the Ribeira Sacra. It is a monumental cork oak about three metres in diameter and 10.8 metres in trunk circumference, one of the most remarkable trees in the south of the province of Lugo and a witness to the valley's old cork-growing tradition. Its dimensions, extraordinary even for a species that in Galicia grows mainly in the Ribeira Sacra, are partly the result of a disease that has hollowed out the trunk from within. About 70 metres to the east grows another, equally centuries-old, cork oak. Photo: Imxavitooh (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in A Pobra do Brollón
