The ironworking era of Riotorto

Between the 16th and 17th centuries, mining and ironworking sustained the economy of Riotorto, whose place-name Ferreiravella recalls those hydraulic hammer forges; the blacksmith's trade has survived there to this day along the Ruta do Ferro.
