Melchor Díaz de la Rocha summoned in 1809 the parishes of Sante, Vidal, Vilaosende, Cedofeita, Valboa and Couxela: three hundred residents with shotguns, pikes and sickles gave battle to the French and forced them to withdraw towards Mondoñedo.
