Lighthouse of Punta Roncadoira

It was lit provisionally on 25 February 1984 and permanently on 10 April 1986, after the construction project was authorised in 1974, to support the other lighthouses that mark the Viveiro ria; since 1993 it has come under the Port Authority of Ferrol-San Cibrao. Its 12.7-metre cylindrical tower crowns a cliff-top headland in the parish of Portocelo, in Xove, 80 metres above sea level, with a range of 20 miles, and was built because of the high number of shipwrecks on this coast. The access roads to the lighthouse and its surroundings were rebuilt in 2009 and 2011.
