The praia de Area, four kilometres from the town of Viveiro, is about 1450 metres long and varies in width between 30 and 80 metres depending on the tide. It has numerous access points and a wide seafront promenade running parallel to the sand, equipped with all kinds of tourist services -first-aid posts, hotels, restaurants, a disco-pub and a youth hostel-, high occupancy in the summer season, and clear, calm waters that have repeatedly earned it the blue flag.
