One of the rivers that drain the municipality of Mazaricos towards the northwest, together with those of Arcos and Mazaricos; it rises within the municipality itself and gives its name to the parish of San Xián de Beba, through which it flows along with two other parishes before emptying into the Xallas river, on the boundary between Mazaricos and Dumbría. Its valley concentrates hay meadows and riverside woodland.
