Sor River Nature · Mañón, Ortegal, A Coruña A river that marks the eastern boundary of the municipality and, with it, the border between the provinces of A Coruña and Lugo; it flows into the Ría do Barqueiro after cutting between wooded slopes of oaks and alders, after 49 kilometres from its source in two branches, one near Puentes de García Rodríguez and the other in the mountains of Muras. Near the mouth it is crossed by three bridges linking Mañón and O Vicedo: a road bridge from the 1980s, another from the old Ferrol-Gijón railway line from the 1960s, and the metal bridge of 1901. Upstream, between the hamlets of Riobarba and Riberas do Sor, a bridge of possible medieval origin is preserved, built over an earlier Roman one, which formed part of the royal road between Vivero and Ortigueira.
