The fall of the castles of Carnota in the Irmandiño war

Historical milestone · Carnota, Muros, A Coruña

Image of Carnota, not of the place itself.

The second brotherhood pulled down, between 1467 and 1469, the four fortresses of the present-day concello: Penafiel, Pindo Central, San Xurxo and Canedo. None was ever raised again and today only stretches of wall and the remains of their chapels survive.
