Shrine of a Virxe da Barca Monument · Muxía, Fisterra, A Coruña Baroque sanctuary begun in 1717 on a pilgrimage site documented since the 11th and 12th centuries, founded in the Middle Ages on the initiative of the monks of Moraime. It houses a Gothic carving of the Virgin, from the 14th century, and nearby stand the stones of Abalar and of Os Cadrís. A fire destroyed it at Christmas 2013 and consumed the main altarpiece, a Baroque work by the Santiago-born sculptor Miguel de Romay; it reopened after its restoration in 2015.
