Castillo de Cabañas

Fortification set on a rocky cliff, with origins going back to the 12th century, probably over an earlier fortification of Muslim origin, right along the line of medieval border wars in Extremadura. Of its three original towers, two survive. From the Peña del Castillo, at 855 m altitude, it offers views over the Peña Buitrera and the mountain range of the Villuercas.
