The municipal area preserves Roman remains such as the so-called "Pocito Gabriel" and stelae with Latin inscriptions found in the cemetery; Cerezo was a hamlet dependent on Granadilla until the 19th century, when it became a municipality in its own right (under the name "Zerezo").
