6,562 inhabitants (INE 2025), 261 m in altitude, 124.54 km². The place name is documented in 1226 as "villam quae dicitur Moralegia," in an agreement between the Order of Alcántara and the bishopric of Coria. In 2009 the settlement of Vegaviana became independent as its own municipality, reducing Moraleja's total population.
