Pinofranqueado arose from the medieval Leonese repopulation around 1160 and functioned for centuries as communal pastureland under the jurisdiction of Granadilla. The Auto de Ortiz Jarero, from 1734, first documents the structure of its council dispersed among hamlets, which was broken up into private holdings with the 19th-century disentailments.
