Alquería de Riomalo de Arriba

Small hamlet of fewer than ten inhabitants, an example of Hurdano 'black architecture': square, single-story houses built of slate, schist, mud, and wood, with rounded corners and a single door as the only opening to the outside. In November 2025 the Junta de Extremadura began proceedings to declare its historic area a Bien de Interés Cultural, Spain's highest level of heritage protection, with the category of Lugar de Interés Etnológico.
