Escurial, villa independizada en 1627

855 inhabitants (INE 2025), between 293 and 314 m in altitude, 100.71 km², 69 km from the city of Cáceres. In 1594 it was part of the Tierra de Trujillo; it became independent from the señorío of Trujillo on 14 August 1627 and obtained the rank of villa in 1678. The A-5 and EX-102 roads cross its municipal area.
