Curiosity
The Convento de Nuestra Señora de la Inmaculada Concepción de El Palancar, already covered in the catalog, was founded in 1557 by Juan de Garavito y Vilela de Sanabria, known as San Pedro de Alcántara. Built on a plot of barely 72 square meters, it nevertheless contains all the rooms of a normal-sized monastery: gatehouse, chapel, upper and lower cloister, cells, kitchen, refectory, and pantry; the founder's own cell was reduced to a recess beneath a staircase.
