La Pobla del Duc Village · Pobla del Duc la, La Vall d'Albaida, Valencia La Pobla del Duc is a municipality of the Vall d'Albaida, in Valencia, of Muslim origin: alquerías already existed there before, after the conquest of James I in the mid-13th century, the king granted the lord of Bellvis the Carta Puebla to found a new urban centre. Later the lordship passed to the dukes of Gandia, of the House of Borgia, whose surname gave the town its present name. The vine was for centuries the main economic mainstay, today largely replaced by fruit trees such as the plum, the peach and the apricot, together with poultry and pig farms. It preserves the church of the Asunción, with a rectangular plan and hexagonal tower, and the remains of a convent of Minims founded in 1603 on the hermitage of San Sebastián y San Fabián. It has 2,451 inhabitants (INE 2025). Photo: Rubén Gómez Eslava (CC BY-SA 3.0 es) What to see and do in Pobla del Duc la
