The main festival of Potries (La Safor, Valencia), combining a traditional market, a fair and religious events in honour of Saint Blaise every February, and forming part of the Ruta dels Porrats de la Safor alongside those of Oliva, Benirredrà, la Font d'en Carròs, Ròtova, Tavernes de la Valldigna and l'Alqueria de la Comtessa. Devotion to Saint Blaise was already widespread in Valencian lands from the conquest of James I; in Potries, a former Muslim settlement dependent on the castle of Rebollet, the origins of the devotion are unclear, though it has been attributed to Gilabert de Centelles, heir to the barony of Rebollet and Oliva at the end of the 14th century, or to an evangelising drive following the Germanías, in the second half of the 16th century.
