La Pobla Llarga Village · Pobla Llarga (la), La Ribera Alta, Valencia La Pobla Llarga is a municipality of the Valencian Ribera Alta, at 30 metres above sea level and with about 4,665 inhabitants, between Alcira and Játiva and crossed from north to south by the Barcheta ravine. Documented since the Llibre del Repartiment as a grant of the Puebla del Ardiaca, it took in 1317 the name Puebla de Esplugues after the feudal lord Pere Esplugues, who resettled it, and later that of Puebla de Torrermosa after the tower he had built. In the 16th century, because of the elongated shape of its town centre, it came to be called Pueblo Largo and later Puebla Larga; after the War of the Spanish Succession, Philip V kept this Spanish form rather than the Valencian La Pobla Llarga. Today the comarca is covered by the Protected Designation of Origin Kaki Ribera del Xúquer, which has transformed its agricultural landscape.
