By the river Escalona, in the municipality of Bicorp, lie the caves of la Araña, one of the best-known groups of Levantine rock art in La Canal de Navarrés, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998. They comprise three rock shelters with paintings dated between 9000 and 1400 BC, from the Epipalaeolithic period, among which stands out the world-famous scene of a human figure gathering honey from a wild honeycomb, together with another depicting a goat hunt. The caves were discovered in the early 20th century by Jaime Garí i Poch, a local teacher.
