Founding Charter of Massamagrell of 1271 Curiosity · Massamagrell, L'Horta Nord, Valencia Image of Massamagrell, not of the place itself. Massamagrell received its settlement charter in 1271 under the Order of Calatrava, which at the time held dominion over the place. Earlier, in 1238, King James I had already granted the settlement to several individuals after the conquest. In 1392 the Crown ceded the rights it still held to Raimundo Boïl, whose family later acquired the rights of the Order of Calatrava in 1426 and criminal jurisdiction in 1437.
