Castle and Walls of Xodos Monument · Xodos, L'Alcalatén, Castellón Walled precinct and castle located at the highest point of Xodos, listed as a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection). Of Arab origin, the settlement was once completely surrounded by walls, of which today only the keep survives, along with a tower set into a stretch of the wall known as "El Portal". After the Reconquest, King James I gave the territory to the Aragonese noble Ximén de Urrea, who granted Xodos its founding charter in 1254.
