Royal Factory of the Count of Aranda Monument · L'Alcora, L'Alcalatén, Castellón Former royal ceramics factory founded in 1727 in L'Alcora by Pedro de Alcántara Abarca de Bolea, 9th Count of Aranda, and later driven forward by his son Pedro Pablo, the 10th Count, who turned it into a large manufactory with about 300 workers and a broad commercial network. It employed French master ceramicists such as Joseph Olérys, Eduard Roux and Sebastián Carbonell, and the sculptor José Ochando Navarro headed its academy of apprentices. The decoration evolved from Berain's French style and Rococo forms towards chinoiserie from 1735 onward and, later, towards Neoclassicism. After the count's death in 1798 and the Peninsular War it fell into decline; the Girona family bought it in 1858 and closed it in 1895.
