Ports de Beceite (Valencian side) Nature · Vallibona, Els Ports, Castellón Image of Vallibona, not of the place itself. Southern foothills of the Els Ports massif in the municipality of Vallibona, the Valencian side of a mountainous range of about 800 square kilometres shared between Catalonia, Aragon and the Valencian Community, whose summit, the Caro or Mont Caro, reaches 1,442 metres and is also the highest point in the province of Tarragona. The vegetation brings together Mediterranean scrubland, Aleppo pine woods, holm oak groves and black pine and Scots pine woods at the highest elevations, with beech woods on the shaded slopes, and is home to the wild goat. On this Valencian side, the area is protected as the Tinença de Benifassà natural park, covering some 5,000 hectares, within a wider area included in the Natura 2000 Network.
