Church of San Lorenzo de Castell de Cabres Monument · Castell de Cabres, El Baix Maestrat, Castellón The parish church of San Lorenzo, in Castell de Cabres — the least populated municipality in the Comunitat Valenciana —, stands at the centre of the village, next to the town hall, on the main square. The present building, consecrated in 1763, replaced the original temple, located in the now-vanished castle; it has a claustral plan, three naves and three bays, with a transept, a raised choir and a square ashlar bell tower at the foot. The central nave is covered with sail vaults and the side ones with groin vaults. Inside, almost intact popular paintings in vivid colours survive, from the late baroque of the late 18th century, on friezes, plinths, pilasters, pendentives — with the four evangelists — and vaults, restored between 2013 and 2015. siglo XVIII Photo: Juan Emilio Prades Bel (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Castell de Cabres
