Shrine of la Cueva Santa Monument · Altura, El Alto Palancia, Castellón The sanctuary of the Cueva Santa, in the municipality of Altura (Castellón), is found on the northern slopes of the Sierra Calderona, twelve kilometres from the municipal capital, next to the road linking Altura with Alcublas (Valencia). Built inside a natural cave, it houses the image of the Virgin of the Cueva Santa, patron saint of the diocese of Segorbe-Castellón and also of towns as far away as Beniarrés, Santa María de Dota (Costa Rica), Piacoa (Venezuela) and Bochalema (Colombia), as well as being the patron saint of speleologists. It is one of the most important religious symbols of the Archpriesthood of Segorbe and of the Comunitat Valenciana, and numerous miracles are attributed to it, among them that of the Berro spring in the town of Altura.
