Els Poblets Village · Poblets, els, La Marina Alta, Alicante Els Poblets is a municipality in the comarca of la Marina Alta, in the northeast of the province of Alicante, formed by three old morisco alquerías, Setla, Mirarrosa and Miraflor, which after the Christian conquest were incorporated into the lordship of Denia. Setla and Mirarrosa had already been united since the 19th century, and in 1971 they merged with Miraflor; for more than a century the town council officially bore all three names, until, already in the 1990s, in 1991 it adopted the Valencian name Els Poblets, as it was popularly known. The municipality extends over the alluvial lands of the Girona river and has one kilometre of coastline, with the Almadraba beach, where a Roman site has been excavated. It retains the defensive tower of Mirarrosa, from the 15th century. It has 2757 inhabitants. Photo: Werner Wilmes (CC BY 2.0) What to see and do in Poblets, els
