Muslim aqueduct of Biar Monument · Biar, L'Alt Vinalopó, Alicante Image of Biar, not of the place itself. The Biar aqueduct, known as the pointed-arch aqueduct, stands next to the town's castle, in the Alicante comarca of L'Alt Vinalopó. It dates from the 15th century and was built to carry irrigation water. The nearby castle does preserve a testimony to the town's Andalusi past: an Almohad-period vault, one of the oldest of this style in Spain, within a fortified enclosure dating back to the 13th century.
