The bombings by the Italian air force

Between 1938 and 1939 the Italian legionary air force bombed Alcoi on seven occasions on account of its metallurgical industry and its war workshops. The city dug a network of air-raid shelters beneath the streets and several buildings still keep shrapnel marks.
