Al-Azraq and the last Andalusi revolt

Historical milestone · Alcoi/Alcoy, L'Alcoià, Alicante

Image of Alcoi/Alcoy, not of the place itself.

The Andalusi leader Al-Azraq led three risings against Jaume I from the mountains of the interior. He died in April 1276 during the assault on Alcoi, and local tradition places on that day the origin of the devotion to Sant Jordi.
