The snow trade Historical milestone · Torre de les Maçanes, la/Torremanzanas, L'Alacantí, Alicante Image of Torre de les Maçanes, la/Torremanzanas, not of the place itself. Between the 16th and 19th centuries, the snow pits dug in the Sierra de Torremanzanas stored snow packed during winter and sold it in summer to Alicante for preserving food and making ice cream and cold drinks.
