Aspe el Viejo and the move to the plain Historical milestone · Aspe, El Vinalopó Mitjà, Alicante Image of Aspe, not of the place itself. The Andalusi settlement known as Aspe el Viejo occupied a hill above the river Tarafa and was abandoned in the thirteenth century, when the population came down to the plain to form the present centre. It preserves remains of dwellings, cisterns and the layout of narrow streets. siglo XIII Photo: David aspe (Public domain) What to see and do in Aspe
