Lighthouse of Santa Pola

The lighthouse of Cape Santa Pola is located on the cape of the same name, from where it overlooks the bay of Alicante as well as the huerta of Elche and the island of Tabarca. It was built in 1858 on top of the old Atalayola tower, a square-plan tower topped by a cornice that had itself been raised in 1552; today it is heavily altered, plastered and painted, although it is still identifiable.
