Museo Escolar de Pusol Monument · Elx/Elche, El Baix Vinalopó, Alicante The Museo Escolar de Pusol (Pusol School Museum) is housed in the public school of the hamlet of Puçol, five kilometres from Elche, and works as an educational and museum project that involves the school and the community in preserving traditional cultural heritage. It was founded in 1968, when the teacher Fernando García Fontanet began collecting everyday objects from the comarca. Its holdings are organised into seven sections: agriculture and livestock, documentation, childhood, clothing, society, trades and domestic life, with pieces such as fans, calendars from 1946 or twentieth-century tractors. In 2009 UNESCO included its educational project in the Register of Best Safeguarding Practices for Intangible Cultural Heritage, and it has also received the Maximiliá Thous award.
