Tower of la Mora Monument · Granja de Rocamora, El Baix Segura, Alicante The Torre de la Mora, square in plan and about 13 metres tall, stands on an old levelled hill on the outskirts of Granja de Rocamora, on the road linking the town with Albatera. Built between the 13th and 14th centuries, it served as a defensive element for the surrounding farmstead (alquería), first Muslim and later Morisco, within the system that protected the Segura's irrigated huerta. It is divided into three floors: the lower one, almost underground, covered with a continuous barrel vault; the ground floor, with segmental vaults; and the upper floor, built with voussoirs and topped by a terrace with battlements. It belonged to the seigneury of Rafal until it was sold in 1822, and has been privately owned ever since; it combines original elements with later reconstructions and is in good condition.
