Declared a Reserva Natural (Nature Reserve) in 1987, the Pitillas lagoon -of endorheic origin, between 250 and 300 hectares shared with Santacara- is the second Navarrese wetland in diversity of waterfowl and a key site for the wintering of migratory species such as greylag geese, mallards, pochards, coots, and teals.
