Raimundo Lanas Muru was born in Murillo el Fruto on 23 January 1908, considered the greatest performer of the Navarrese jota in history, known as "el ruiseñor navarro" ("the Navarrese nightingale"). After training with the Orfeón Pamplonés choir, he triumphed in Cuba, Mexico, and New York before dying in Fuendejalón (Zaragoza) on 31 December 1939.
