Puente la Reina/Gares Village · Puente la Reina/Gares, Valdizarbe-Novenera, Navarra A town founded in the late 11th century when Alfonso I the Battler granted a founding charter to a settlement of francos (foreign settlers) established beside the Arga, which received the fuero de Estella (Charter of Estella) around 1122. It owes its name and fame to the bridge and to being the place where the Camino de Santiago routes coming from Roncesvalles and from Somport merge into a single itinerary. It now has around 2,970 inhabitants. 1122 Photo: Jule_Berlin from Berlin, Germany (CC BY 2.0) What to see and do in Puente la Reina/Gares
