Santa María de Eunate Monument · Muruzábal, Valdizarbe-Novenera, Navarra About 2 km from the village, this octagonal Romanesque church, dated to 1170, stands at the point where the pilgrim routes to Santiago from Somport and Roncesvalles converge. Surrounded by an exterior gallery of 33 arches, with a pentagonal apse and a square tower, it was traditionally attributed a Templar origin that no document confirms; archaeological finds, with scallop shells in burials, point instead to an old pilgrims' hospital. It was declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) on 3 June 1931. 1170; BIC 3 de junio de 1931 Photo: Jl FilpoC (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Muruzábal
