La basílica de San Gregorio Ostiense Monument · Sorlada, Tierra Estella, Navarra A sanctuary dedicated to San Gregorio Ostiense, traditionally invoked against agricultural plagues, whose body, according to legend, was carried after his death in Logroño in 1044 on a donkey's back to the heights of Piñalba, where the basilica was built. His relic, the saint's head, was carried around Spain during the locust plague of 1755-1756; in a 2008 public vote the church was chosen as one of the Ten Wonders of Navarre. 1044 Photo: Pompilos (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Sorlada
