La Estela de Lerga Historical milestone · Lerga, Sangüesa, Navarra Image of Lerga, not of the place itself. An almost complete Hispano-Roman funerary stele, found reused as a building stone in a hermitage in Lerga dedicated to Santa Bárbara, and brought into the Museo de Navarra in December 1960. It shows in relief an equestrian figure —possibly a military horseman— and an inscription in Latin characters with names of pre-Roman root that some philologists link to Aquitanian onomastics and Old Basque; the archaeologist Marcos Pous dated it to between the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. It is displayed in room III on the ground floor of the Museo de Navarra, in Pamplona. s. II-III Photo: Reinhardhauke (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Lerga
