Yacimiento romano de Santa Criz de Eslava Monument · Eslava, Sangüesa, Navarra Image of Eslava, not of the place itself. A Roman city built on a pre-Roman Iron Age hillfort, which came to function as a municipium in the Conventus Caesaraugustanus. Excavations, begun in 1996 and resumed by the University of Navarre since 2017, have brought to light a forum with cryptoporticus, residential areas, and a necropolis of about 2,000 m² with monumental funerary elements. It was declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) on 5 September 2016. 5 de septiembre de 2016 Photo: Jialxv (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Eslava
