La Judería de Tudela Historical milestone · Tudela, Ribera, Navarra Image of Tudela, not of the place itself. Tudela was home to one of the most prestigious and populous Jewish communities in Navarre, which lived alongside Christians and Muslims in separate quarters for nearly four centuries. In 1328 it suffered a pogrom instigated by Pedro Ollogoyen. The so-called 'Manta de Tudela', hung in 1610 in the chapel of the Cristo del Perdón, recorded nearly two hundred names of converted Jews as an act of 'blood purity', the origin of the Spanish expression 'tirar de la manta' ('to pull the blanket', meaning to reveal a hidden truth). 1328; 1610 Photo: José Luis Filpo Cabana (CC BY 3.0) What to see and do in Tudela
