A fortress built in 1098 by order of Pedro I on a hill 60 meters above the Aragón river; during the reign of Sancho VII the Strong (1194-1234) it was listed among the kingdom's strongholds, and residents of Milagro fought at the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa on 16 July 1212.
