Cementerio de Burguete

Designed in 1964 by the Pamplona architect Miguel Gortari Beiner, the cemetery of Burguete broke with tradition by prohibiting mausoleums that would distinguish some of the deceased from others, and by representing the cycle of life with the Greek letters alpha and omega in its oval layout. In 2014 it was chosen the best cemetery in Spain in the first national competition organized by the magazine Adiós Cultural together with the Asociación de Empresarios de Servicios Funerarios (Association of Funeral Service Businesses).
