A municipality of 42.23 km² about 30 km from Pamplona, formed by five concejos: Aizpún (capital), Azanza, Munárriz, Urdánoz and Goñi. Until 2025 the municipality was officially called simply 'Goñi'; that year the Nomenclátor de Navarra corrected the name to its current bilingual form, Val de Goñi in Castilian and Goñerri in Basque, to avoid confusion with the concejo of the same name, Goñi.
