Iglesia de San Nicolás Monument · Pamplona/Iruña, Comarca de Pamplona, Navarra One of the five original parishes of Pamplona's old town, documented since 1117 and built in Gothic style in several phases up to the 14th century. Because of the medieval conflicts between the city's boroughs, it functioned as a fortress-church until the unification of 1423. It preserves a Baroque organ from 1769, one of the most important in Pamplona. The architect Ángel Goicoechea Lizarraga renovated its exterior in 1888, adding a Neo-Gothic porch. It was declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) on 15 May 2006 (code RI-51-0011563). Photo: Cruccone (CC BY 3.0) What to see and do in Pamplona/Iruña
