Cámara de Comptos Monument · Pamplona/Iruña, Comarca de Pamplona, Navarra The only civil Gothic building preserved in Pamplona, on Calle Ansoleaga, near San Saturnino. It housed the audit tribunal of the Kingdom of Navarre, an institution created in 1365 by King Carlos II in imitation of the Chambre des Comptes of Paris. King Carlos V de Navarra acquired the building in 1524 to give the institution a permanent seat, where it operated until its abolition in 1836; the kingdom's coinage was also minted there. It was declared a monumento nacional ('national monument', an earlier Spanish heritage protection category) in 1868. Photo: Zarateman (CC0) What to see and do in Pamplona/Iruña
