Figures such as Santiago de Larraín y Vicuña (1666-1748), governor of the Real Audiencia of Quito, and Francisco Javier de Errázuriz y Larraín (1711-1767), founder of the Errázuriz line in Chile, from which five Chilean presidents descended, emigrated to South America from this small valley.
