Laredo Mansion Monument · Alcalá de Henares, Cuenca del Henares, Madrid Neo-Mudéjar palace on the Paseo de la Estación in Alcalá de Henares, built between 1880 and 1884 as a private residence for the painter, restorer and mayor of the city (1891-1893) Manuel José Laredo y Ordoño, designed by Juan José de Urquijo. It combines Neo-Mudéjar, Gothic and Pompeian elements, with plasterwork and tiles of oriental inspiration and a minaret with a clock, and incorporates royal pieces brought from the castle of Santorcaz. It preserves one of the few Romantic gardens surviving in the city. His heirs donated it to the Town Council in 1973, which transferred it to the University of Alcalá after restoring it in 1988. It houses the Cisnerian Museum and holds an original edition of the Complutensian Polyglot Bible.
